the vaudeville ghost house

giants

i woke up and we were giants
you yawned and stretched
and destroyed two bridges
and i realized you didn't know

you flattened neighborhoods making breakfast
crushed streets and railways getting dressed
and there were sirens to mark
when you kissed me and left for the day

the city was ruined when you returned
and our embrace flattened what's left
we went to bed and outside at last
there was peace

someone asked why i didn't stop you
but i always said i'd burn this world
to see you smile
i guess i didn't feel the need
